How We Test & Rate Products
Every product on HonestRated goes through a structured evaluation process. We don't guess — we test, measure, and verify.
1. Hands-On Testing
We create real accounts, make real transactions, and use each product as a regular user would. For crypto exchanges, this means depositing funds, executing trades, and testing withdrawals. For freelancer tools, we process actual payments and test every feature.
2. Data Collection
We collect quantitative data on every product we review:
- Fee structures (trading fees, withdrawal fees, hidden charges)
- Security features (2FA, cold storage, insurance, audit history)
- Performance metrics (transaction speed, uptime, app responsiveness)
- Customer support response times and quality
- User reviews from Trustpilot, App Store, and Google Play
3. LATAM-Specific Evaluation
Because we serve Latin America, we specifically test:
- Local payment method support (bank transfers, mobile payments)
- Local currency support (COP, MXN, BRL, ARS)
- Spanish-language interface and support quality
- Transfer speeds to/from LATAM banks
- Regulatory compliance in key markets
4. Scoring System
Each product receives a score from 1-10 based on weighted criteria. Weights vary by category — security matters more for crypto exchanges, while fees matter more for payment platforms. Our scoring formula is fully transparent and published in every review.
5. Regular Updates
Products change. Fees get updated, features launch, security incidents happen. We re-evaluate our reviews regularly and update scores when significant changes occur. Every review shows its last-updated date prominently.
